What's a 'blog'?

A 'blog' is short for 'WeBLOG'. Although they've been around since the beginning of the Internet, only recently has the name 'blog' been attached. What the term has come to mean is a periodic posting of the author's thoughts, observations, rants, raves, or whatever.

Blog applications (the good ones, anyway) are basically a customizable Content Management System. Up until now, modifications to web sites had to be made by the geek who built the site. The everyday site owner had to pay to have any changes made, and sometimes wait days or weeks for it to happen. Not any more! Now the site owner has control over the content of the web site, and can make changes quickly and easily. It still takes a geek to design and implement the blog architecture, but after that the content of the site is completely in the owner's hands.

The highly customizable nature of modern blogging software makes it ideal for sites that mainly offer information that changes regularly or offer only a few items for sale. The fact that the software that drives them is already written translates into savings for the owner, too!

Because a lot of the work is already done, I am able to offer special pricing on the design and publishing of your blog. The final cost depends on the amount of changes that need to be made beyond the initial design, but you can expect to pay between $1500 and $3000, which includes one year of hosting.
